In Tbilisi, utility services are provided by different companies. Electricity, water, gas, yard cleaning, internet are paid separately, and in some buildings, elevator or residential complex maintenance.

Often, the same apartment account number is used for electricity, water, and cleaning. Therefore, after moving in, it’s better to immediately ask the landlord for all account numbers or just check them in his banking app.

Payments for all utilities are usually due by the 2nd or 3rd of each month.

The easiest way to pay all bills is to add them to your banking app — then just check the charges and debits.

Who is who in the bills

Before setting up payments, find out exactly who issues your bill — the provider names are not always obvious to beginners:

  • Electricity — in Tbilisi, it’s “Telasi” (Telasi); outside the capital, usually Energo-Pro Georgia.
  • Water — Georgian Water and Power (GWP).
  • Gas — the gas company in Tbilisi is Tbilisi Energy Natural Gas.
  • Internet — depends on the provider with whom you have a contract (Magticom, Silknet, etc.).
  • Yard cleaning (garbage collection) - in Tbilisi, it’s Tbilisi Cleaning.
  • Elevator - usually Citycom, Smart residence, but sometimes the building management collects the money.

Payment via TBC

In TBC Bank, you can add payments and group them:

  1. Open the TBC app, find the «Payments» section, click «New», and select «New Payment».
  2. Choose the provider from the list (electricity, water, gas, etc.).
  3. Enter the account number — the app usually immediately pulls up the current balance or amount due.
  4. Check the amount and confirm the payment with a code or fingerprint.

For regular payments, you can save the provider as a favorite or set up a recurring payment — then you won’t need to find the provider and enter the account number again next time.

Auto-payment via mBank (Bank of Georgia)

In the Bank of Georgia (mBank) app, the logic is similar:

  1. In the «Transactions» section of the main menu, then select Pay.
  2. Choose the provider and enter the account number — as in TBC, the app shows the amount to pay.
  3. At the first payment, you can save the payment as a template. You can group all payments into one group.

From practice: it’s most convenient to group all payments into one group, for example, with the house name, and go in on the 2nd and pay the entire group.

Briefly

  1. Clarify the provider and account number for each service upon moving in — this saves time at the start.
  2. TBC Pay and mBank allow not only manual payments but also setting up regular auto-debits.
  3. Set the auto-payment date a few days before the deadline.
  4. After reissuing the card, check that auto-payments haven’t stopped — they need to be re-saved.
